Howe, Irving

   American literary and social critic. He was born in New York and taught English literature at Brandeis University and Hunter College. He wrote studies of English and American novelists and Yiddish literature. His works include A Treasury of Yiddish Stories and A Treasury of Yiddish Poetry.
